Soaked with the vibe and essence of NYC in the ‘60s and seasoned with a rich variety of styles from whispery, beatnik pop to moody & magnificent jazz, folk and soul, the four singles issued by Ranny Sinclair are uniformly brilliant, soft, sexy soundscapes–uncollected on a single LP until now. From the original Columbia Records mono masters, this long awaited debut includes performances by Dave Brubeck, and four previously unissued recordings! Available in LP and CD formats.
I bought the CD, not the LP, and I love it. I was in college when Ranny Sinclair's records were out. I was a fan and looked forward to the release of the next single. I am so glad they were finally collected into an official record. Miss Sinclair was also so beautiful, a real hometown girl-type, so I appreciated the photos on the CD. I followed her career at the time and understand she also 'made a difference,' visiting hospitals and entertaining the troops on a USO tour. I am sorry Ranny didn't continue her career as a jazz singer. If there are other recordings of hers, I'd buy another CD. All in all, the CD captured the essence of a young singer involved in the music business of the '60's--so very different from today. The recordings I preferred were the uptempo ones, in particular the 'hit' "Wailing Waltz" and "Something to Sing About" by Dave Brubeck. I recommend this album highly.
